Kratom for Ailments

In this article, I want to go in-depth about using kratom powder  and kratom products for the treatment of ailments. This will surely prove as a useful resource for those suffering from chronic illnesses or diseases. Especially for those illnesses that cannot otherwise be resolved with the use of traditional pharmaceuticals. There is nothing worse than already being sick, much less adding side effects from pharmaceuticals without ever resolving the initial illness.

Kratom: Nature’s Adversary to Sickness

Genesis 1:29 says, “And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.” Whether you are spiritual or agnostic, this verse holds the key to our wellness while living this temporary life. Our creator never intended for HIS complex and intricately designed creations to be held captive by illness and debilitating disease. In fact, our creator never wanted the pharmaceutical industry to hold the keys over sickness and health. Strong’s exhaustive concordance of the Bible translates the word “sorcery” from the original Greek word “pharmakon.” It gives the definition as: a drug i.e. a spell-giving potion, a druggist or pharmacist, a poisoner.

We are adequately supplied with the all the necessary resources to combat every man-induced illnesses. The use of essential oils, herbs and plants has been around since the beginning of time itself. Only in this latter epoch has the human body became so fragile and sickly. This is largely due to the mass infiltration of dangerous chemicals we are continually exposed to. Hormones and antibiotics are needlessly injected into our meats and High Fructose Corn Sugar are added to literally every food and beverage in the grocery store. All of these chemicals are creating a revolving door for the pharmaceutical and medical stakeholders. Kratom can stop that in its tracks.

What is Kratom?

One specific plant which is well-known for combatting a multitude of illnesses is mitragyna speciosa, a.k.a. kratom. Kratom is an extremely beneficial herbal supplement made from the leaves of the rubiacea species. This medicinal tree grows primarily in the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia and is very closely related to the coffe plant. Mitragyna speciosa contains well over 40 unique alkaloids. Each alkaloid being beneficial for the the human body to either prevent or fight illnesses.  Depending upon the location where it is grown and how the plant is harvested after maturity, each kratom strain also has a unique set of alkaloids. The locals in Southeast Asia have been using kratom for the treatment of ailments and diseases for centuries, with little to no long-term effects being reported. With the poulation at almost half-a-billion, the overall health of the region far surpasses the health of Western continents (Hashim et al, 2012).

What are Alkaloids?

According to Scientific Brittanica, alkaloids are defined as, “the natural compounds found in all nitrogen producing vegetables and are considered to be the bi-product of substances that comprise proteins. They are exuded in particular cells or tubes of the plant. Because of their naturally bitter flavor, they are a natural protectant against predators, like birds and insects. All alkaloids have intrinsic value and form the ingredients of many important medicines. The alkaloids also comprise strong vegetable toxics and sedatives. Well-known alkaloids include morphine, strychnine, nicotine, caffeine, ephedrine and quinine.”

Alkaloids in Kratom

Kratom boasts more than 40 alkaloids as its active ingredients. These alkaloids act on the opioid and monoaminergic receptors. The main alkaloid Mitragynine serves as an agonist at certain opioid receptors like μ, κ, and Δ. It also acts on adenosine-2a, postsynaptic α-2, dopamine-2s, and serotonin receptors (kratomscience, 2014). To make a long story short, all 40 alkaloids present in kratom have the potential to remedy almost any ailment or illness known to man.  The key is knowing which strain to use for each illness because every alkaloid does something unique.  Below will explain each alkaloid’s potential. This is not a comprehensive list, instead it lists only the major alkaloids that are common amongst all strains. Keep in mind, all strains contain these alkaloids. However, there are certain strains that contain more than others.

Decreases platelet formation and increase blood flow and circulation. Promotes sedation and relaxation. Eases convulsions and muscle spasms. Treats high blood pressure. Treats seizure disorders; such as Epilepsy and Stroke. Found in all strains but most prominent in Maeng Da strains.

Pain reliever. Relieves cough and congestion. Treats chronic pain associated with injuries and surgeries, arthritis, tendonitis, sprains and strains. Also used for COPD, Emphysema and other pulmonary disorders. Found in all strains.

Treats opiate withdrawal symptoms and is used in the production of addiction therapy drugs to block the binding of opiates and endorphins on the brain. Found in Red Vein strains and especially abundant in all strains of Maeng Da.

Prevents calcium from entering the heart and arteries. Used to lower blood pressure. Used in hypertension and heart disease treatments to prevent stroke.

Replaces lost dopamine in the brain. Main ingredient used in medications to treat Parkinsion’s Disease and Alzheimer’s Disease. Higher in Green Borneo Strains.

Also found in dark chocolate. Known as a cancer formation agonist. Prevents malignant cell growth and may prevent certain cancers from forming in the body. Used in anti-inflammatory drugs and commonly used in diabetic treatment medications.

Used in addiction therapy drugs to lessen withdrawl symptoms.

Largest alkaloid found in Kratom, at 66%. Used to treat chronic pain, control cough and congestion and relieve diarrhea. Found largely in Green strains from Bali, Borneo, Indonesia and Malaysia. Also found in Maeng Da strains.

Stimulates the immune system by inducing activation or increasing activity of any of its components.

Main alkaloid present in kratom. Treats chronic pain and inflammation, used as an analgesic. Treats diarrhea. Similar to epinephrine, dilates blood vessels to promote optimal blood flow to the brain and vital organs. Treats malaria. Found in all strains, but more prominant in strains from Thai, Malaysia and in Maeng Da.

Relieves hypertension and used in certain heart disease treatment medications. Used in medications to treat convulsions and muscle spasms. Promotes blood flow and removes excess water from the body. Promotes cognitive function, increases concentration and mental clarity. Increases concentration and memory. Treats depression and malaise, fatigue and anxiety. Found in stains from Indonesia and Sumatra.

Used to treat muscle spasms, convulsions, nerve damage and other disorders of the central nervous system.

Increases blood flow throughout the arteries and brain. Limits calcium from being deposited in arteries and vessels. Reduces fever. Regulates heart beat and is used to treat arrythmia and murmors. Used in anti-parasitic medications to destroy parasitic worms, flukes and mites in and on the body. Main ingredient found in malaria medications.

Treats opiate withdrawal symptoms and is used in the production of addiction therapy drugs to block the binding of opiates and endorphins on the brain. Highest in Red Vein strains and Maeng Da.

Treats nerve damage and disorders. Active component in treatments for neuromuscular and neurodegenerative disorders. Used in treatment medications for GI tract diseases, such as diverticulitis and Chron’s Disease.

Main ingredient found in all anti-inflammation and immunotherapy drugs. Supports immune health.

Used to regulate blood glucose levels. Found in all strains, but higher in Green Malaysian.

Kratom for the Treatment of Ailments

Along with alkaloids, kratom also contains other valuable vitamins and minerals. With such a varied list of active alkaloids, it is no wonder kratom has the potential to treat so many ailments. Here is a brief list of what kratom is known to treat, and some ailments the alkaloids present could theoretically remedy:
